Following a $2.6 million redevelopment, Centacare has officially opened its Aishling facility, which provides a new standard in short-stay accommodation for children and young people with disabilities.
The original “Aishling Respite Centre” in Eagleby had a proud 25 year history of providing valuable care and support services to the community. But as we embrace the introduction of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), we’ve set ourselves the challenge of creating a new and unique environment that better responds to the hopes and aspirations of our clients, their families and carers.
Come and stay with us
Aishling offers a safe, warm and enriching environment for children and young adults with complex needs. Our purpose built facility, dedicated team and individualised accommodation options open up opportunities for our clients and provide the support and flexibility they need to work toward their goals and live their best lives.
Surrounded by natural bushland, our beautiful, six-bedroom residence gives clients the option to enjoy overnight, weekend, or holiday stays, either on a regular basis or just when it suits them best.
Each bedroom is comfortably furnished and equipped with a private ensuite bathroom and our centralised common areas are spacious, filled with natural light and equipped with the latest technology.
Visit us for the day
Aishling also acts as a hub for our fantastic learning activities. Every morning our mini-bus picks up clients from their homes. Our clients look forward to their day out, meeting new people, trying new activities and having the option to learn different skills that align to their individual goals.
The choices and opportunities we offer our clients are always changing. We offer sailing, shopping and cooking and volunteering activities such as preparing and delivering for Meals on Wheels.
Our state-of-the-art kitchen, laundry and computer hub facilitate independence for our clients.
Everyone contributes when they stay at Aishling. This help could be in the form of meal preparation, looking after their own belongings and personal hygiene and helping with shores such as sweeping up the lunch crumbs. Some of our clients, particularly those with “skills-based” goals will do their own washing and folding.
Changing lives with technology
Aishling embraces technology to open up life-changing possibilities for our clients. Integrated mobile technology, centralised monitoring, emergency and panic sensors, automated lighting, isolated food and medication storage and automated entry and exit points means our clients can live as independently as possible.
While our qualified and experienced team provide around the clock care for our clients, Aishling’s smart design and clever use of technology means the focus is on independence rather than supervision, providing a richer environment to enhance and strengthen the lives of our clients.
