Mental Health Hub - Overview

A new beginning

We are embarking on an exciting new beginning for the important group services and support for people with a mental illness offered at our Morgan Street Fortitude Valley location.

Centacare’s mental health support service ‘Anam Cara’ and Pastoral Ministries now work together to deliver this important service.  Our mission remains the same. We are here to support our clients to develop and maintain their best possible social and emotional wellbeing, to understand and respond to their individual needs, and walk alongside them as they progress toward their recovery goals.   The support now includes collaborative, non-clinical group support options, alongside the pastoral care that was previously on offer.

The Mental Health Hub service ensures a holistic approach to care and recovery- oriented services through a combination of government–subsidised and volunteer group support, complemented by linkages to external referral pathways where appropriate.

All group-based programs are evidence-based and designed to promote positive outcomes for people living with a mental illness. The group-based supports we offer, that are similar to our individual supports, can help to: increase social interaction, enhance life skills, increase community participation, foster independence and relationships, improve physical and mental health, reduce hospitalisations, stabilise housing tenancies and assist in sustained or stable involvement in employment and education.

Many families and supporters whose loved-ones have been helped through the Mental Health Hub, or previously Catholic Psychiatric Pastoral Care (CPPC), choose to make a donation to support this vital, yet underfunded ministry. Through your tax-deductible gift, you provide somewhere for people who are experiencing mental health issues to turn when they are at their most vulnerable and alone.
