Child Care - Overview

Centacare operates over 130 early education and care services across South East Queensland.

In 2019 these services were re-branded as Catholic Early EdCare. These centres had been providing early education services to the community under the Centacare Child Care Services banner for more than 14 years.

Across our services we work with families to watch their children grow from six weeks to high school aged. As a faith-based organisation we recognise the value of diversity and welcome all families within our community. We work with Brisbane Catholic Education, local schools and parishes to provide child care services, including long day care, kindergarten and outside school hours care to meet the needs of our local communities. Our educators are committed to supporting children to grow socially, individually, respectfully, spiritually, creatively and confidently, through our play-based programs.

Long Day Care

The early years are a critical time in a child’s development. At Catholic Early EdCare long day care centres, we will work with your family to nurture your child’s development from as early as six weeks through to kindergarten age.

Our educators are all tafe or university trained and will support your child to develop foundational skills, through play, in line with the Early Years Learning Framework. This framework focuses on helping children develop a sense of belonging, make the most of their childhood and preparing them to become a full and active member of society. At Catholic Early EdCare we believe play is the most important work of a child and respect their right to experience the joy of childhood. Our educators will provide new opportunities for your child to create and explore everyday.

Kindergarten is an important time in every child’s life. Our teachers will nurture your child’s love of learning throughout their kindergarten year and ensure they develop the skills for a successful transition to prep.

Our stand-alone kindergartens offer an approved Queensland Government Kindergarten Program run by a university-qualified early childhood teacher. As sessional kindergartens, children complete a five-day fortnight, during school hours and school terms. If these hours aren’t quite right for you, all of our long day care centres also offer an approved kindergarten program, with extra care hours available.

To be eligible for kindergarten your child must turn four by June 30 of that year.

Outside School Hours Care

At Catholic Early EdCare our Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) provides primary school aged children the opportunity to grow as they develop their social skills and to extend on the learning opportunities they have in school.

We offer a combination of before school, after school and vacation care. Our educators work with all children to create fun and recreational experiences that support children’s wellbeing, learning and personal development in line with the My Time, Our Place framework for school aged care in Australia.
