Our Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) services care for school-age children and aim to provide fun, recreational programs during before and after school care, school vacation periods and pupil free days.
The Council of Australian Governments has developed My Time, Our Place – framework for School Age Care in Australia (The Framework) to assist educators to provide children with opportunities to maximise their potential and develop a foundation for future success in life. It is a key component of the Australian Government’s National Quality Framework for early childhood education and care.
The Framework has been designed for use by school age care educators working in partnership with children, their families and the community, including schools. It represents Australia’s first national framework for school age care to be used by educators, and aims to extend and enrich children’s wellbeing and development in care settings.
Our educators collaborate with children to provide play and leisure opportunities that are meaningful to children and support their wellbeing, learning and personal development. Children in school age care settings are challenged to be curious about what is of interest to them while at the same time developing self-identity and social competencies (taken from MY TIME, OUR PLACE Framework for School Age Care in Australia).
Our educators provide a setting where children:
- socialise with friends in a relaxed environment
- engage with staff and peers in quality programs developed collaboratively by the children and staff
- experience recreational activities that challenge and stimulate their physical and social development
- can enjoy play and have fun with their peers.
Our goal is to ensure that educators support and facilitate children’s social skills and self-confidence. As well as our structured activities there is plenty of time to have fun and play with friends. Children have access to sporting equipment, arts and crafts, drama, science, cooking, toys, games, dress ups and more.
We manage Outside School Hours Care (OSHC) services in the Archdiocese of Brisbane by agreement with Catholic parishes and Brisbane Catholic Education. All our OSHC services are approved child care services and receive Child Care Benefit funding through the Australian Government Department of Education, and Department of Employment under the legal entity, The Corporation of the Trustees of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Brisbane. Licensed OSHC services comply with the Education and Care Services National Law Act 2010 and National Regulations 2011.
