Women on the Move

Personal development workshops for women affected by unhealthy relationships. The workshops comprises 8, 3 hour sessions, which are open and ongoing. Topics include:

  • discovering self
  • healthy relationships
  • understanding and transforming personal feelings
  • managing stress
  • healthy boundaries
  • learning good communication tools
  • self-care, nurture and support.

No fees are charged for this program.

Domestic and Family Violence (D&FV) Court support

The Court Support Service provides court-based support to people within the community who experience domestic and family violence and appear in either Maroochydore, Caloundra, Nambour, Noosa or Gympie  Magistrates Courts for a D&FV Court Mention. The program is a specialist (no fee) service that provides:

  • help to complete an application for a Domestic Violence Protection Order or make changes to an existing order (variation)
  • explain your and the other persons options, and the consequences of different options
  • explain the court process
  • talk to the police prosecutor and court staff on your behalf
  • provide you with support and information in court and throughout the court process
  • help you with safety planning
  • refer you to relevant legal and community services appropriate for your situation
  • and provide you with crisis and emotional support through the process.

The service also provides specialist information and referral services at the same courts predominantly for males responding to D&FV applications against them, providing:

  • information about the court process
  • referrals to appropriate legal and community services
  • links to specialist behavioural change programs and other community care services.

Domestic Violence Assistance Program (DVAP)

Services we provide include:

Centacare Family Relationship Services, Domestic Violence Assistance Program DVAP provides court-based support to people (predominately women) within the community who experience domestic and family violence and appear in Beenleigh  Magistrates Courts for  Domestic and Family Violence Court Mentions. The program is a specialist (no fee) service that provides:

  • help to complete an application for a Domestic Violence Protection Order or make changes to an existing order (variation)
  • explain your and the other persons options, and the consequences of different options
  • explain the court process and process for reporting breaches to Police
  • talk to the police prosecutor and court staff on your behalf
  • provide you with support and information in court and throughout the court process
  • help you with safety planning
  • refer you to relevant legal and community services appropriate for your situation
  • and provide you with crisis and emotional support through the process.

South Burnett Women’s Service

South Burnett Women’s Service provides support for people aged 15 and over who have experienced childhood or adult sexual abuse. Experienced staff have undergone  special training to deal with these sensitive issues. All clients can expect their personal details to be handled with the utmost discretion and privacy.

Services offered:

  • one-to-one support
  • court support
  • referral to counselling
  • advocacy and information
  • assistance with rape, domestic violence or relationship issues.

No fees are charged for this service.

Safety Upgrades Program

The aim of this program is for women and children to remain in their own homes when there are safety concerns due to  domestic and family violence. The program can provide safety upgrades to home and increased security for women and children.

No fees are charged for this program.

Healthy Relationships Series for Women

A series of workshops for women who are of have been affected by controlling relationships.

The workshops run for 5 x 2 hour workshops and open so you can choose which workshop or workshops you would like to attend.

The topics covered include:

  • working towards healthy relationships
  • the games people play: understanding control in relationships
  • free to be me: defining your space in relationships
  • making decisions: do I leave or do I stay?
  • supporting children where there Is conflict in the family.

No fees are charged for this workshop.
